i. PURPOSE
• Theatro Oneiron is a Greek-Australian performance ensemble formed to present the very best of Greek theatre and Greek culture.
ii. VISION STATEMENT
• To perform in both English and modern Greek.
• To introduce audiences to plays from the repertoire of world theatre, presented in the Greek language.
• To invite non-Greek speaking audiences to view Greek works in English translations.
• To redress the historical "loss" of Greek culture as part of the migration process.
• To promote &/or present plays from the entire historic spectrum of Greek literature, including plays by Greek-Australian/Australian writers and any literature on Greek themes.
• To present a diversity of performances from other artistic and expressive modes (such as - dance-theatre, music-theatre, chamber-theatre, play readings etc).
• To promote and present other aspects of Greek or world culture from the areas of music, art, literature, poetry and dance.
• To encourage the participation of the Greek-Australian community in the Association's presentations.
iii. OBJECTIVES
• To produce two productions per year, with at least one in English.
• To ensure that all public performances given are of the highest possible artistic standard, and to introduce the highest possible creative values in productions.
• To establish community, cultural and educational ties with relevant and significant establishments, governments or instrumentalities.
• To promote the presentation and touring of productions.
• To promote the presentation and touring of productions to Greek speaking communities in regional areas and urban centres.
• To support and foster the development and production of Greek-Australian artistic works.
• To encourage and support cross cultural productions with other artists and companies.
• To foster Greek-Australian youth involvement in the Association's presentations.
