The Skaubryn Project (1994) A multi-media, music drama based on the oral histories of Greek migrants who travelled to Australia on board the Skaubryn as part of the first wave of the post war assisted migration scheme. Depicting the Greek Civil War and the subsequent hardships, the play follows the plight and adventures of a family leaving Greece and embarking on a new life in Australia. The narrative link is based on a true story of young Iphigenia who was left behind in Greece in order for the family to comply with the conditions of migration. A poignant and poetic work; an original work that serves as a tribute to the universal migration theme. Staged in 1994 with great success, and now planned as a documentary and film. With songs and the poetry of Nobel Prize winner George Seferis, set to music by Arthur Giannopoulos. In English and Greek. Nominated as best multicultural play by dB magazine for 1994.
